I'd like to suggest if player interactivity could be looked into..

I have a friend that plays with me a lot and she has Dyspraxia, this means she struggles a lot with motor co-ordination, and this becomes apparent at the more advanced mechanics of the game, and in many community-made maps, she has a really rough time keeping up with her friends.

Obviously; Assist mode is for that, but in a Multiplayer environment Assist Mode makes her feel demotivated and she's highly against using it because it makes her feel like she needs training wheels to do what others can do with no problem...

So I figured that maybe if this mod had more movement options using 2 players, this could turn the whole game around.
Cause it would go from me having to watch her struggle, to me actively trying to find creative options to help her out however I can, even if the solution is somewhat cheesy, it's a lot more fun for everybody than to just cheer for her, over and over...

As of right now, you can only do so much with other players, so I'd really like to suggest if we could have movement options that are more impactful or open up the possibilities more.

I know how making options impactful like this would feel cheesy, so this is why I'd like to suggest if this was also Optional, this way people can opt in for these "adjustments" which would be more casual focused and allow for more player interactivity, much like you opt in for wanting interactivity at all.

I named this "yoshi mode" cause it sounds cute and fitting
I'm not an expert in the game to be able to tell what could be done, but I do have some ideas:

  • Adjust launch distance when a player is thrown
    (to at least allow the throw to be chained into more moves, as of right now you can't do much with throws)
  • Allow players to jump out of another player's Grab, resulting in a normal jump upwards
    (rather than only having the option of being thrown into a direction, or dropped down, also helps anti-griefing)
  • Option for no hitboxes or crouching hitboxes on the player being carried, or prevent players from dying to walls while carried
    (to allow for 2 players to still be able to go through tight obstacles without the carried player dying above you, this happens a lot to ceilings regardless if its not a hazard)
  • Re-bind drop-down to require letting go the climb button (like Jellyfish)
    (hypers are not possible while carrying someone, you'll always drop them because of holding down, means you also cant fast-fall with someone, etc)
  • Allow momentum to be kept while bopping on someone's head
    (don't know if its already a feature, but I'm putting it here to be sure because it's a feature in the snowballs)
  • Allow inputs during the grab animation
    (There's an animation that pauses your momentum while grabbing a player, pretty familiar stuff, Theo has it too, but you really have to be frame-perfect when getting out of this animation if it's another player, unless you time the jump perfectly you can't wavedash + grab them or do moves alike. would be good to have a more forgiving window for jumping out of a player grab animation)
  • Option to be able to dash while holding a player
    (very very cheesy, not that necessary, but I can see it's uses if the goal is to help a friend)
  • Option for a player's death to "burst" like a Seeker or Fish, or to have other utilities
    (This + pause can allow coordination, because you can keep your position while paused and you control when you die (Retry), pausing is already used to basically make a player platform that other players can use, but adding some more utility to that could be fun and useful)

I'm not asking for these to be added word-by-word, this is why I said "I'd like to see if you could look into player interactivity", I'd really appreciate if player interactivity had some more options or alternatives, even if goofy or cheesy, to allow for players to help each other out or to mess up each other even further, quality of life alone would help lots.

All in all, I love the mod and effort put into this, me and my friends appreciate it very much
