2023/12/23 Meeting

Updates

  • SC23 Tutorial -- went well -- a handful of engaged folks.
  • Nicole: Working on WarpX Particle Advection support + ideas for plotting streamlines
  • Nicole: Working on refactoring / unifying Ascent's logging
  • Cyrus completed CI Spack updates for Conduit and Ascent
  • Cyrus: Working on moving to new raja-based data binning (old code was open-mp CPU only)
  • Ascent has moved to VTK-m 2.1
    • Q: We are not using rocthrust in our CI builds, or build_ascent -- are there performance impacts?
    • We are working on merging PRs that requried VTK-m 2.1
  • We plant to release 0.9.3 in January

Discussion

  • Ping Abhishek about particle stuff he did and getting it into ascent

  • Meghanto's PR for sampling we need to get in. (Sampling is also in VTK-m, so we would need to migrate some changes there as well)

  • UO still working on ARMWind use cases for KPP3+1

  • Meghanto's has Python extract to create GLFTs (only works for iso surfaces)

  • Possible future: Manish to get shadow volume rendering into ascent
