Welcome to the ci-fhir-r4 wiki! This page provides an overview of current work, and provides links to pages on the principles and conventions for artefacts in this repository.

Notice - STU3 is finishing up

We are in the process of transitioning to R4 as our primary version of FHIR. Work will continue in ci-fhir-stu3 to wrap-up current implementation guides into a cleaner baseline and then frozen. All new work, such as the forthcoming Discharge Summary work, will be in R4.

Current and ongoing work

HI Service compliant R4 examples

Development of some examples for testing of profiles, and for use in use case implementation guides, that use HI Test data from the vendor environment. This test data has been provided to CI, by Medicare DHS, as registered identifiers in the vendor environment that may be used in specifications as example data.

Working on:

  • Patient examples
  • PractitionerRole and Practitioner examples
  • Organization examples

R4 Individual and Entity profiles

Establishing a set of reusable profiles of individual and entity profiles for use in multiple usage scenario implementation guides.

Working on:

  • Base Organization
  • Organization with Mandatory Identifier
  • Base Patient
  • Patient with Mandatory Identifier
  • Base Practitioner
  • Base PractitionerRole
  • PractitionerRole with Mandatory Identifier
  • Base RelatedPerson
  • RelatedPerson with Mandatory Identifier

Implementation guide look and feel

Working on:

  • developing the template and style sheets
  • presentation of profile lists and extension lists
  • presenting examples for each profile in a nice hyperlinked table in an examples tab
  • traceability between StructureDefinitions and information requirements
  • presenting must support requirements, and wording of must support requirements

Event Summary FHIR IG

Australian realm implementation guide of the HL7TM FHIR® specification to represent an Event Summary (ES).

An ES is an event summary authored by a nominated provider, that contains key pieces of information about an individual’s health status and is useful to a wide range of providers in assessing individuals and delivering care.

Working on:

  • Currently using this implementation guide as the means of prototyping the implementation guide content and R4 profiles for Individuals and Entities.

Future work

  • R4 Medications profiles (e.g. Base Medication)
  • R4 Summary profiles (e.g. Summary of Allergy or Intolerance)
  • R4 Shared Health Summary
  • R4 Shared Medicines List
  • R4 Prescription and Dispense List
  • Support exchange of diagnostic imaging reports in FHIR
  • Support exchange of pathology reports in FHIR
  • Support exchange of discharge summaries in FHIR
  • Supporting a co-authored, shared, living medicines list
  • Supporting a co-authored, shared, living allergies lists
