Works for me
Sure, I can grab it.
I could see it changing at some point, but for now I think using Pages/JS/the GitHub api will be just fine. Since we wouldn't be collecting any sort of data in this first iteration, migrating to a new app in the future if we need to shouldn't be too much trouble.
Let's not worry about these for now. I don't foresee videos being a regular thing between the people required to record and the permission required from the parents. As for ticketing, for now eventbrite isn't killing us. If (and most likely when) we get sick of eventbrite, the lesson plan frontend will be easy enough to move to a new app with tickets underneath. |
coderdojosf.com acquired. Once we have the app set up I can swap it into the CNAME |
@cameronmcefee sorry for the ticketing confusion, I meant, displaying the information (still using eventbrite), not as a platform. I've created the repo here so feel free to route the domain name |
How that I see you and @jonmagic working on similar stuff, I'll hold off on adding the domain until we get this all solidified in one place. It's all paid for so we just need to hook it up when it's time. |
yup makes sense. |
Bumping this back up. @broccolini, had you mentioned you were potentially interested in doing a microsite? I like what http://coderdojonyc.com/ has going, simple as it is. The best I can tell from the conversation above, we own http://coderdojosf.com and already have the repository set up to run the Github Pages site, but the domain name isn't hooked up, and there isn't much at http://coderdojosf.github.io/ |
@mikefowler the coderdojosf.github.io isn't the same as coderdojosf.com. The .com site actually links to the admin panel that was created to manage tickets. The domain name is mapped to a heroku instance which isn't running atm. I created the gh-pages hoping to post resources for students where they would come in, and go to this url and get all the lessons, links etc. |
Thanks for the clarification, @KartikTalwar. I'd like to see us using the .com for a general landing page with upcoming events, plus pages for past events with links to class resources. What's the status of that admin panel Rails app? Were we using that one point? |
Don't think we ever used it, however a lesson repo schema was established. The goal was to create eventbrite apps directly from the dashboard. I belive @cameronmcefee owns the domain name so if you'd like to point it back to the github.io, the DNS entries can be changed |
Ah, ok. My mistake, I didn't realize so much work had gone into this. Would be great to get it up! |
@jonmagic was doing dev on this. Not sure where it's at now. I do own the domain name. I was just waiting for a place to direct it. If you guys know where you want it, let me know and I'll hook it up. |
Last discussion we had I got the impression it was going to be a while before this site would be up and that it might be sensible to put a simple pages site up in the meantime. I'm happy to do that if so. |
Still need help from a designer to take this thing to completion. Happy to meet and work with someone after I return to the states (so sometime after next monday). |
@jonmagic I might be able to help with this if doesn't require a github designer, but I'm going to be a bit busy over the next week or so with my relatives in town. |
Sept 2, 3, 5, 6, 9, and 10 are free for me to do something in the evening after work. @broccolini can you do anything this Thursday (after 5pm) or next Monday or Tuesday (anytime)? |
@jonmagic I don't finish work til 7, we have a big release next Thursday so often staying a bit later. I might be able to do Monday or Tuesday evening but would likely be 7.30 - would that work for you? |
Either day works for me. Where would you like to meet (the GitHub office is available of course)? |
GitHub office seems practical, it's not far from my work. Tuesday would be better for me I reckon. |
See you then \m/ |
@jonmagic yo are we on for meeting tonight? |
@broccolini yup, I'm at the office. What time will you be arriving? |
Hey @broccolini and @jonmagic, did you end getting a chance to work on this? |
Yeah we met on Tuesday. I wrote some notes, sorry haven't posted yet. I thought it might be worth @jonmagic coming along to our meeting on Wednesday. We would like to see what you and other organizers think about event sign up. |
Absolutely, @jonmagic should come. I think we'd looked at this Thursday for our next meeting since Brent would be out of town on Wednesday (and I also have a conflict on Wednesday). In any case I'll be figuring that out tonight, will include Jonathan. /cc @broccolini |
Thursday works for me. On Mon, Sep 16, 2013 at 3:03 PM, Mike Fowler [email protected]:

Thursday a bunch of us will be doing the OctoGala. |
Oh dear, @mikefowler I guess no one would want to meet on Friday, how about following Monday? |
The following monday would work for me. On Mon, Sep 16, 2013 at 9:36 PM, Diana [email protected] wrote:

Made a thread for the next meeting over in Lesson Plans repo. |
Monday is cool with me. |
Monday works for me as well. |
Continuing the discussion from here, we should probably get started on having a website.
I believe this should be enough to get started:
coderdojosf.com
?/archives
instead of/index
for past lessons?cc: @cameronmcefee @brntbeer
