7tv emotes (maybe others) intermittently do not load

I've been getting a lot of invisible (non loading emotes) when chatting. This used to only happen when I opened the emote menu-- the 7tv emotes wouldn't completely load when there were a lot, and I'd have to open the menu multiple times to get them all visible-- but now it's happening when I type in chat as well, just blank empty space and no emote image.

There seems to be a delay or limit on the number of requests at once to load emotes from 7tv.

Maybe things have gotten worse recently. Anyway to fix or cache these emotes so they load and work as expected without multiple page loads or refreshes?
