Summary

This hotfix fixes some of the video playback issues that occurred from last nights release. No other major changes are included.

Fixes

• Fixed a playback issue where large portion of videos were unable to be fetched by @PikachuEXE ! Fix license data reading code causing some videos cannot be played #6682
• Fixed an issue where sorting comments would sometimes not work properly by @absidue Fix comment sorting when sort by newest is the default #6702

I upgraded to 0.23.1 from 0.22.1 and ran into #6678 again using either dash or legacy. I downgraded back to 0.22.1 and with legacy formats I can watch videos again. I originally had upgraded to 0.23.0, ran into the bug and downgraded. Should I create a new bug for 0.23.1? Is there a cache or something like that I should reset? The only thing I'm really concerned about would be my subscriptions list which I can just export first.

So far seems to be every video I try. These are the errors I'm seeing.

I tested with macOS & windows (VPN to Australia on & off
Both videos play fine for me
Need a dev to try to reproduce it to debug (or could be network related

Maybe a regional network problem. However if I downgrade to 22.1 and use legacy, all the videos play, in 360, but they do play. If I select dash it has the 403 error shortly after starting the video on 22.1. #6713 was opened by someone so I'll watch that bug since it does seem to match what I'm seeing.

As there is a mention of the issue #6713, it states that the problem is a misconfiguration of PiHole, which I strongly disagree.
But since it was locked twice by absidue after I wrote an entire report of my experiments' results and before I could submit the post, I just came here to say that the cause, the solution and the justification offered does not apply to many people. I am one of them, and it affect two different networks. One of them has no DNS subdomains filters applicable or related to this issue.

Something changed two days ago in Freetube, maybe in the backend, if there is one, that affected both networks the same way and in both versions, 0.22.1 and 0.23, and now the 0.23.1 as well. Bypassing the DNS and network configuration by connecting directly to the internet has no effect and the issue persists.

@KnightArch There is no backend, FreeTube's local API is your computer talking straight to YouTube. Failed to fetch means something with the network setup is wrong, be that DNS, proxies, timeouts and considering that it doesn't affect all users it seems unlikely that it is a problem with FreeTube's code.

Also fixing the PiHole configuration fixed it for various users, so yes blocking the BotGuard domain with a PiHole or by other means is definitely one of the causes.

Everyone that worked on this is such a bunch of babes, absolutely amazing work, insanely quick turnaround.

Fixed the problems I was having accessing videos. Will report back if I find any issues, but so far so good!!!

Also personal thank you to @PikachuEXE - I use and love your Apple Silicon build which is installed thru Homebrew. Legend!!
