Robert Niewood | Director, Systems and Acquisition Operations

Robert Niewood is the Director of Systems and Acquisition Operations for GSA’s Office
of Assisted Acquisition Services (AAS). He is responsible for overseeing a team that
provides AAS with systems, data analytics, acquisition guidance, governance, metrics,
training, and business processes.

Robert has served many roles in his 14 years of federal service. He started his career
with AAS’s predecessor organization the Federal Technology Service as an IT Project
Manager, providing direct support to numerous client agencies in the Mid-Atlantic
Region and providing internal support in the deployment of GSA internal systems. He
later became a Contracting Officer at the Department of Homeland Security’s Federal
Protective Service, awarding and administering contracts for armed-guard services at
various federal buildings across the country. He returned to GSA in 2010 as a Program
Manager for AAS, combining his experiences in IT Project Management and
Contracting to assist the AAS Program Management Office in developing systems,
guidance, metrics, and controls to improve the delivery of assisted-acquisitions.
