Currently Icon view spacing is fixed. Making this adjustable would improve customization and improve workflow for those who prefer the Icon view for everyday use, allowing the user to specify how many items are displayed on one grid.
I believe you are using the xfce widget library for this, (specifically exo-icon-view) and it currently does not support configurable spacing changes, as the source files must be edited. However this looks like it can be fixed with a patched version of exo-icon-view.
