Is it possible to infer nativetheme from system preferences?

As the title suggests, my question relates to the nativetheme option. It can only be light or dark, but can it just follow the system's preference? And based on the changed value, can we toggle darkman accordingly?

This actually used to be the default couple of releases ago, but I dropped it as it always reported a light theme back then. I did a basic test just now, and I can actually get it to report dark as well, so I might re-introduce it in the future. I'll convert this to an issue.
