Actual temperature

Hi, this question may be stupid, so please excuse me...

I'm getting confused between BT having a place for an external temperature sensor and then also mentioning the offset / temp. calculation.

I would like to use BT to control my in floor heating TRFs. Those would sit in a totally different room (basically, they would be in the basement, and the room would be on the first or second floor for example). So the temperature the TRV would report is basically useless in this scenario.

Would the external temperature sensor I can pick within BT "replace" the TRVs sensor? Or would this not work?
