portal 2 logo in corner makes game unplayable

sometimes after loading a save, and sometimes after loading the next map, the portal 2 logo can be in the top right corner while in game. this doesent let me controll chell, and doesent let me press esc or go into the console so the only way to quit is to force close the game. its like shrodingers menu, its there but it isnt there at the same time (even though it litteraly is there )
