Spot on Max. Legacy carmakers are overpricing BEVs because they are adverse to change and the status quo is profitable. They will only start to be serious about selling BEVs when selling polluting vehicles becomes too difficult, either due to higher taxes, better alternatives from new players or both. When BYD starts selling cars electric made locally that compete with ICE cars on price, legacy carmakers will suddenly stop overpricing their EV lineup. |

July 2024 - EV sales still stagnated in Sweden
July’s auto sales saw plugin EVs at 59.6% share in Sweden, almost flat YoY from 59.9%. BEV volumes were down YoY by 15%, while PHEVs grew by 9%. Overall auto volume was 16,337 units, down 6% YoY. The Tesla Model Y remained the best selling BEV.
The July market data showed combined plugin EVs at 59.6% share in Sweden, with full electric BEVs at 33.8% and plugin hybrids (PHEVs) at 25.
