Prizes Allocation and Odds Calculator

An interactive calculator for prize allocation, prize qualification, chance and bet prices.

Overview

LotterySix is inspired by the lottery game "Mark Six" by the Hong Kong Jockey Club.

Each LotterySix draw has seven prize divisions, ranging from the jackpot in the 1st division for matching all 6 main numbers to a fixed prize of $(N * 4) in the 7th division for matching just 3 of the main numbers drawn. Each draw also has fixed prizes in the 4th, 5th and 6th divisions respectively.

A single unit bet is the fixed amount set in the config, which defaults to $10. During each round, 6 distinct numbers are chosen at random, with an additional "special number" after that.

Whilst the bottom four divisions are fixed prize amounts, the top three divisions all have prizes that vary depending on how much money ends up in the prize fund from bet sales and how many winners are in that division. The total prize fund for the division will be divided amongst all the winners of the division equally, with those that won using a partial unit investment winning their corresponding amount. The table below shows how the prize in each division is calculated.

The top divisions (1st - 3rd) prize fund is calculated in one of the two ways, whichever is higher

  • Lowest Top Places Prize* / 2 + Carry Over Fund^ + Amount Received from Ticket Sales * (1 - Tax Percentage#)
  • Lowest Top Places Prize*

*Lowest Top Places Prize is a value set in the config
^Carry Over Fund is the remaining prize money not given out for the top divisions due to the lack of a unit winner in that division in the previous round
#Tax Percentage is a value set in the config

It is then split into the top three prize divisions: 45% for the 1st division, 15-40% for the 2nd division and the remaining 0-40% for the 3rd division. 55% is shared between 2nd division and 3rd division, the actual percentage is adjusted within the bounds of each group as follows:

  • The prize money (55%) shared between 2nd and 3rd place winners will be shared evenly with 2nd place winners weighted 2.6 and 3rd places weighted 1.
  • If less than 1 unit bet won in 2nd or 3rd place, it will be treated as if 1 unit bet won in that division, and prizes allocated to this "winner that doesn't exist" will be moved into the carryover fund.
  • Each division (2nd or 3rd) with all their winners combined can only be allocated a maximum of 40%, if it is exceeded, the extra bit will be moved to the carryover fund
  • 2nd division with all their winners combined must be allocated at least 15%

If there are no winners in the 3rd division, the prize money for that tier is reallocated to the 1st and 2nd divisions as follows:

  • If there are no 2nd division winners as well, 100% of 3rd division prize money will be reallocated to the 1st division
  • Else, if there are no 1st division winners as well, 100% of 3rd division prize money will be reallocated to the 2nd division
  • Else, 75% and 25% of 3rd division prize money will be reallocated to the 1st and 2nd division respectively

If there are no winners in the 1st or 2nd division, the prize money for that tier will be moved to the Carry Over Fund for the next round.

If there is less than 1 unit of a winning bet in the 1st, 2nd or 3rd division, the remaining portion of the prize money not given out will also be moved to the Carry Over Fund for the next round.

After allocating prize money for all the divisions, these rules will then be checked

  • 1st division prize per unit bet must be 2 times higher than the 2nd division prize per unit bet
  • 2nd division prize per unit bet must be 2 times higher than the 3rd division prize per unit bet
  • 3rd division prize per unit bet must be 2 times higher than the 4th division prize per unit bet
  • 4th division prize per unit bet must be 15 times higher than the 5th division prize per unit bet
  • 5th division prize per unit bet must be 2 times higher than the 6th division prize per unit bet
  • 6th division prize per unit bet must be 8 times higher than the 7th division prize per unit bet

If these rules are not satisfied, the prize per unit bet of that tier will be lowered. If the reduced prize money is from the 2nd or 3rd division, they will be added to the Carry Over Fund for the next round.

Single Entry

Choose 6 different numbers
Simplest to understand, recommended for first-time players

Multiple Entry

Choose 7 or more different numbers
Example: If seven numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 are selected, it can be split into seven single entries as below:

Placed Bets
1+2+3+4+5+6
1+2+3+4+5+7
1+2+3+4+6+7
1+2+3+5+6+7
1+2+4+5+6+7
1+3+4+5+6+7
2+3+4+5+6+7

Banker Entry

Choose one to five number(s) as banker(s), with other numbers selected as legs
