So I'm not exactly sure where you might want to put this (perhaps under "state trie") or how feasible or not it would be to measure this in a comparable way across chains, but I think it'd be a pretty interesting metric to benchmark. Feel free to reach out if you want to brainstorm!

Do you have a high-level idea of how one might track the state growth in a comparable way across chains given that they grow proportional to the activity on the network? Do you envision it as a constant metric captured once or a live / real-time monitoring that measures the "current state growth / month" similar to velocity?
I think the current snapshot and overview of state, ideally with some cuts for "type of state" (aka "useful state" vs. "other state" like approvals etc) + also some way of showing velocity as you put it (the % and GB or TB amt change in state over a period of time). Let's discuss async, have some ideas!
