Experiences with hifiberry mini amp using jumper cables?

Hi!

Working on my second phoniebox and having some space issues here. With a hifi berry mini amp as HAT it just won't fit in my desired box.
Now I am thinkig of moving the hifiberry to an area with more space left using a jumper cables or a ribbon cable between the pi and the mini amp.
The hifi berry docs say that they can't garanty that the amp works at all when not directly mount on the pi.
So is anyone here using cables between pi and hifiberry? Any experiences to share?
