I'd like to be able to build towers from one world to another, with a 1 layer (or configurable, whatever) overlap so that you can keep building right after the warp.

I would find a 64 block buffer to be useful. If you build up high enough (y:192?) you would be transported to the other world at the same coordinates at y:64. Any changes made between y:128 - 192 in world A would also change relative to y:0 and y:64 in world B and changes between y:64 - 128 in World B would change blocks between y:192 - 256 in world A.
