Desk Management Security Analysis

Component Focus

This document analyzes the security of Chromium's desk management functionality, focusing on potential vulnerabilities related to desk creation, window manipulation, desk persistence, and inter-desk communication. The primary files under review include ash/wm/desks/desks_controller.cc, ash/wm/desks/desks_util.cc, and ash/wm/desks/templates/saved_desk_controller.cc.

Potential Logic Flaws:

  • Unauthorized Desk Creation: An attacker might exploit vulnerabilities to create unauthorized desks. Insufficient input validation or authorization checks could exacerbate this risk. The NewDesk function in desks_controller.cc is a key area for analysis.
  • Window Manipulation: An attacker could manipulate windows across desks. Insufficient authorization checks or input validation could allow unauthorized actions.
