The game can't find the game data.

How did you install the game?

1.I download this game at official org site.
2.Decompress the zip file.
3. Click Neverball.exe
I think it is correct because I can run this game at another device. Is it a wrong way to install?

For best experience, extract the game data archive using the folder (similar as PK3 folder without ZIP archive support (this is used for Standard I/O)). This is works using 7-Zip.

Perhaps you launched neverball.exe without extracting the .zip file? It's an easy mistake to make.

I've downloaded Clockwork ver Neverball which has extracted data file but I failed with black screen...
Also, I exactly extract Neverball file.
Only my new laptop makes problem. Other devices are succesfully running game with my installation.
I suspect some essential program is missing. How do you think?

Sounds like your laptop might be missing files essential to running Neverball. I know this sounds weird considering how new it is, but try setting reflection 0 in your neverballrc file and see if that changes anything.

I had given up this problem these days. But I think it is unfair. I want to play Neverball with my new laptop which contains i7-9750h and 1660ti. So I invest my time and I get some evidence.

  1. My "Neverball" file is in "Public Documents" not at User "Documents".
  2. In "Neverball" file, I found a log below.
    2019-10-14 17:33:39 - Neverball 1.6.0
    Creating a window (800x600, windowed)
    Created a window (1, 800x600, windowed)
Failure to open "classic" theme file
  3. Neverball 1.5.4 has no problem with running.
  4. Same problem occurs with neverballrc reflection 0.
  5. I can't solve this problem with changing security option.
  6. I am running this game with administrator account and with administrator run it doesn't help.
How can I do... 1.5.4 ver has problem with tilting floor with mouse I don't want to play with this.
I can give you more information if you want. Please help me ㅠㅠ

Failure to open "classic" theme file

Do you have a file named data-1.6.0.pk3 in the data folder? If so, try opening the archive (it is a renamed ZIP), and try visiting the gui directory, followed by the classic directory

Just before, I make my pk3 file to zip file. Then I found gui and classic directory. What can I check next?

Maybe extract the data-1.6.0.zip directly into the data folder.

Wow you saved my life. Without data-1.6.0 file, it is successfully running. I don't understand why only my laptop causing this problem.

I got another problem...Neverball can't make Document/MyGame/Neverball directory. So I can't save and settings and replays. It can make MyGame folder but nothing in there. Can you help me one more time?

I think you can manually create the directory and it will work fine. Neverball has a similar issue on Linux.

I made Neverball file in MyGame file. Then I create ID and edit some graphic settings. But nothing happens in Neverball file. It is empty...

Perhaps you've write incorrect directory name. On Windows, it is called My Games.

Also, make sure you are creating Neverball as a directory, not a file. Neverball should then put some files into the Neverball directory for keeping track of scores and such.

I don't know what file is in Neverball directory... How can I get files?

Finally, I got an answer of this problem. After changing my user file name(korean -> english), neverball runs well without any problem.
