Verbose log files can get quite large. At least a couple of reports of running out of disk space on long running instances.
At a minimum, need a config option to prune old log files beyond a certain number of days when rotating.
Possibly some existing library capable of managing log files better than is being done currently, with more configurability?

Usually an external daemon handles this and sends SIGHUP to tell the server to reopen the file
