It's recommended to take PicoDrive core from irxxxx's fork, because notaz's upstream repo is updated less frequently.

From description of both repos:

At present, most development activity occurs in irixxxx's fork; notaz's repo is updated less frequently.

After version 1.93 many things have done, such as support of CD32X combo of addons used in Doom CD32X Fusion, and version 2.02 adds fixes for 32X watchdog timer handling used for running homebrew Sonic Robo Blast 2 port.
