Cleanup and comments; working generic fires

Yeah, the code was a bit of a mess before. Hopefully this makes it a bit better.

Also, I broke generic fires a while back when I switched to partition_map, whoops!

Initial FDM release

I forgot the v at the start. How embarassing!

Anyway, this still needs monstermos. It's showcasing odd behavior, and it's too much of a beast to easily figure out what's going on. I'll look at it in-depth, but first I have to set up build scripts and such.
