This CASIO calculator manual is for use in Mathmetics 2 MA-179 course at University of Agder. It gives an overview of the metrix operation relevant in the course. THe manual describes the following operations:
- Define a matrix
- Arithmetic operations with matrices
- Matrix scaling
- Matrices multiplication
- Inverse of matrices
- The determinant of a matrix
- Powers of Matrix
- Augment matrix
- Complex operations with matrices
- Row echelon form
- Reduced row echelon form
It is assumed that calculators inital state is in ==RUN • MAT== mode which at the start page, that a user may access Below is an image of calculator in ==RUN • MAT== mode.
The mode can be selected by pressing the MENU button.
CASIO calculators have several ways of defining a matrix. Below are described two methods. The first one is betters because it allows for reuse of defined matrix, and therefore it will be used in the rest of the manual.
By pressing F3 on the calculator, a Matrix editing window will be displayed. (One some CASIO calculators it be a placed under "Mat/Vec")
In the displayed manu, user may select matrix that will be defined. Arrows on calcualtors (up ↑ and ↓ down) can be used to navigate in the manu. To choose the matrix press EXE, the user will be asked to enter dimensions of the futur matrix. m referes to number of rows and n is the number of columns that the matrix will have.
Ocne matrix dimensions were added, press EXE one more time in order to enter manu where user may enter matrix entries.
The matrix is authomatically saved, therefore user may simple press Exit in order to exit for the manu. Once pressed, a matrix will be defined and stored in calculators memory.
On the bottom of "Matrix editing" vindow user may also find DEL, DEL-A, and DIM functions that can be used to delete/reset selected matrix and to change dimentions of the matrix.
