Best way to work with existing scripts and do spotting.

So, I wanted to know if there is a best practice to work for spotting where script is already available.

This is what my current process is...
-> I transcribe first and then do the spotting. As transcription phase could involve speech to text and machine generated scripts and all.

1. I have a video.
2. I have a script. (This could be transcription with formatted text (italic added and all)) (at this stage, it is a possibility that I have already watched the video once while improvising the script.)
3. I want to do spotting on this script quickly for the script available. (I currently use import plain text feature but it imports only 'plain' text and I have to do all the formatting again.)
4. So now I create timed template with source view enabled. Paste the script in source view. Break the lines in the script on the fly as I generate the timed event. Make sure the event # and lines in the script are matching.
5. Import the plain text.
6. Import the time codes. Just pray that they fit because in bigger files it becomes tedious.
7. Now again format italic as source view doesn't read it.

So ultimately I end up watching or visiting the video twice or thrice.
So I would love to know how I can improvise.
