Listen to PhoneState in Background

I have Implemented the plugin and it works fine when the app is in open state. When we minimise the app or remove the app from the system tray the plugin is not detecting the call. Is there any way to detect incoming calls in the background?

sorry for the late reply. The answer partially depends on the platform, and what permissions the user has granted. At some point I'll look into it again.
