I would love to see a romanization feature on search and the lyric feature.
For example, if there's a song called ラブレター - YOASOBI, the only way to search for it currently is by using a Japanese keyboard layout. It would be much more convenient if we could search for it using the romanized version of ラブレター, which is Raburetā.
I found a Python library called uroman that allows you to convert any Unicode script to roman/Latin characters.
Another approach would be to use some sort of API, but I can't think of any reason why this approach would be better than using a Python library (which is local, unlike using 3rd-party api) for that exact reason.

Tauon already does this in the global search (kana only though). Im afraid of potential performance impacts of extending that to lyrics.
As for displaying romaji, I think... opinion incoming but I think romaji lyrics are fundamentally bad. Like you're going to pronounce it wrong, and if you do speak Japanese it makes your brain melt.
You just have to learn Japanese. 😁
Though I wouldn't be opposed to a furigana feature. Might not be worth the work though.

My idea is to make it a toggle that is turned off by default (romanization on lyrics). So it's probably fine.

I mean... yeah it's true ig. Personally, I know how to read arabic and hate those "latin" arabic because it doesn't really correspond to the arabic spelling.
But some people really look forward into "romaji" in lyrics to just try sing along with the song.
But being able to search song with their romaji probably don't hurt tho. Would love that.

For the lyrics, I suggest displaying the romanization below each line, similar to how the Better Lyrics for YouTube Music extension does it.
