foobar2000 has 2 context menu options to optimize tags, one to place tags at the front of the file (good if you stream your music) and one to remove padding (saves minimal space, but changing tags after doing this takes longer). This might be out of scope for Tauon, but Picard doesn't have this. It might fit in well as an option that only shows when shift is held.

Yeah this might be a bit out of scope.

Its kind of an MP3 specific thing which might not be worth cluttering the menus for, even if it is hidden.

Also, while I'm not super against the idea of such a feature, I don't have/know of a tool that does it, and I'm not keen to try write the code to do it myself.

FLAC has padding too, not sure about other formats though.

The prune operation for this removes padding, among other things. The whole idea may be too specific, especially if only for FLAC, but I think it would be nice for Tauon to have a sort of "library maintenance" ability.
