It'd be great if Tauon Music box to persistently show on top of all other windows when in compact mode. Perhaps there's a toggle for this already but I couldn't find it.

That's one of the last missing features in Tauon. The slim window layouts, especially Micro would be ideal to stay on top.

OK Ive committed this change now.

Always-on-top will be the new default behavior of mini modes with a setting in settings to disable it.

Note: This won't work on Wayland native. Ive added mention of a workaround to the end of this page https://github.com/Taiko2k/TauonMusicBox/wiki/Troubleshooting-FAQ

@Taiko2k is this still the case on current Wayland and is this even something Tauon should be concerning itself with?

The compositor should be enabling this functionality.

i.e. Plasma

Yes, seconding @C0rn3j, at some point after creating this issue, I realized GNOME lets you do this natively for all windows:
