Tasks
Task 1: Transition to census tracts
Task 2: Replace Lorentz curve with actual distribution (2010)
Task 3: Initialize "is_beltline" using Carlos's script
Task 4: Create optimization metric (Simulated incomes - 2010 incomes)
Weekly Accomplishments
What tasks did you complete this week? (Include links):
I was able to complete all of my tasks for this week. However, there was an issue regarding which census tracts should be part of the income metric calculation, since we don't have 2010 income data for all census tracts. I asked Devam to fix this amenity tract filtering process.
Tasks are still ongoing? Current status?
The only ongoing task is fine-tuning the optimization metric calculation process.
Challenges and Learning
It took a while to figure out how to incorporate additional census data hyperlinks in our simulation to automate the process of fetching 2010 income data. Initializing the 'is_beltline" attribute also required a more comprehensive use of Overpass API and queries.
What's one new thing you learned or skill you improved?
I improved my ability to navigate querying from Overpass API.
Did you attend any team meetings? Key takeaways?
I attended the team meeting.
Reflection and Planning
Your progress this week?
I completed all the tasks I wanted to for this week.
Main focus for next week?
Fine-tune the income metric and address the disconnect on the graph between the two counties.
Any resources you're looking for?
