I couldn't find a way to configure an HTTP proxy to allow Vaa3d checking for updates when running behind a restrictive firewall. Did I miss this?

If such an option doesn't exist, I suggest to add it.

You can try Socks proxy.

@ruanzongcai thanks for the suggestion. Where can a SOCKS proxy be configured in the Vaa3d menu? I didn't see any option in the preferences, nor in the V3D updater options.

Trying to search for updates results in an error: "Unable to connect to Vaa3D server"
