Remove Ship Kills functionality #18
Comments
I agree, but can we make channel in the official discord server for ship kills but no usernames? |
For what reason? Seems a bit pointless to me? |
To sorta keep up do date on what's happening |
Out of scope of this discussion, and also pointless in my opinion. We can discuss that at a later date. |
We should probably just ingame-ify this. Maybe someday after Casa's site exists we could let people link their faction to their faction's Discord and log their kills there too, but that's not a priority at this time. |
The point of removing public access to the original #ship-kills channel was to prevent toxicity, which is just reintroduced by people having these discord servers with 99% of the game's active playerbase in a Galaxy Info-powered ship kills channel. What's the point in removing access to the channel in the first place if people can just do it through Galaxy Info?
Sure, you need player ids, but firstly those are NOT difficult to get, secondly there's no hard limit on how many ids can be in a ship kills channel (or ideally, how many can be in a server).
I propose completely removing ship-kills functionality from Galaxy Info.
An alternative fix would be limiting the number of people you can have in a ship kills list per server, but that would just make people want to hoard the bot even more than they already are (side note: #6 when).
