GCC 3.0 and later offer a separate archive with tests. Integrate them with the build process, but make running testsuite optional.

DejaGNU board commited in 4ca4a90

Waiting for vamos to be fixed - it does not implement some exec.library and dos.library calls that are used by libnix.
