It is possible to use Kanata on Darwin, since the package is available on aarch64-darwin.

However, while on NixOs is easily available as ready-made module, on nix-darwin is not landed yet.

On the other hand, it should not be hard to port the existing NixOS module to also work on Darwin, since it is mainly based on

  • kanata itself, which is available, as said above
  • a systemd service, which should be replaceable with a launchd one

Once the module is ready and tested, it could be even contributed to nix-darwin itself, with a PR.
