Description of feature

I would like to have an easy option to open featured images in a nice lightbox for block themes. After Wordpress 6.4, there have been updates that make it very hard for non-code savvy users to manually activate this feature.

This feature would be used to

Display my art in blog posts better and make it friendly for any screen.

If you added this feature, I would

a) Eat my hat
b) Jump for joy
c) Shave my cat
d) All of the above

For a moment I thought option a) was "Eat my cat".
I'm not eating mine or anyone's cat. But I'll be very grateful and make better websites.

Hi, please provide some details on specifically what about WordPress v6.4 makes manual activation more difficult.

Thanks.

This article explains how the main query loop in block themes is handled differently since version 6.4.0.
Block themes do not use php templates, so I would not know where to write the manual activation PHP code.
Please understand that I know very little about code and this is the best explanation I could find.

Thank you for the additional details. Support for block themes is being evaluated, though it's not yet clear whether there are any hooks to activate featured image blocks specifically.
