Setup of the add-on

Pre-requisites

• Have a stable Wi-Fi connection where the CVE / non-CVE device is placed.
• Screwdriver flat (CVE only)
• Cat5e or better ethernet cable (non-CVE only)
• Phone to take pictures (optional)

Hardware installation CVE

Time: About 10 minutes

1. Pull the power plug from the wall outlet and wait at least 15 seconds to let the capcitors discharge.
2. Remove the the blue or light gray cover of the itho case.
3. There is a blue/gray/black box inside which holds the main pcb.
4. In case of a blue/gray box: this can be openend applying a littlebit of force on the side of the box or by using the flat screwdriver.
5. In case of a black box, first execute step 4 before removing the case.
6. Disconnect the main power wire going to the pcb.

Note: Static energy discharge can damage electronic components. To prevent static electricity build-up touch a grounded metal surface regularly or use a special wrist band for grounding

5. Place the pcb support (small white plastic piece) on the itho main pcb with the short/rounded side down.
6. Place the add-on on the 2x4 pin header, be careful to align the header properly.
7. Reconnect the power connector to the main pcb.
8. You can now test the installation by reconnected the power plug, blue LEDs on the add-on should light up. If this is the case disconnect the power plug again and place the removed covers back.
9. Reconnect the power plug and continue with the wifi setup.

Hardware installation Non-CVE

1. Take the add-on from the antistatic bag
2. Find the COM / serivce port on your device, it is the port that accepts a RJ45 connector also used for ethernet.
3. Connect a cat-5e or better (short) ethernet cable to the COM / Service port
4. Connect the add-on to this port
5. Lights next to the RJ45 connector on the add-on should light up.

Note: The USB connector is not needed for power, only for serial monitoring or low level programming.

6. Continue with the wifi setup.

WiFi setup

1. If no known wifi netwerk is found, the add-on will start an access point. After 15 minutes in this mode the add-on will restart en try to find a network again.
2. Wifi access point mode is indicated by the wifi led which blinks once every second when in this mode.
3. The built-in web server can be reached, by connecting to the add-on access point. This can be done via PC, tablet or mobile. The network name (SSID) starts with nrg-itho- followed by 4 numbers/letters. The password for the network is: password
4. After connecting to the access point, use a browser to go to: http://nrg-itho-A1B2.local (replacing A1B2 with the 4 digits/letters of the SSID); In the event that this does not work, browse to http://192.168.4.1
5. On the web page you can further configure the add-on. Enter the network details of your own Wi-Fi network and then save these settings.
6. Next, on the MQTT page, you can set and save the details of the MQTT environment if you wish (this does not require a reboot, yet)
7. For modules delivered with the CC1101 RF module, it is also possible to activate RF support (if an RF module is present) under menu 'system settings' (or 'itho settings for firmware version < 2.3').
8. Restart the add-on under menu 'reset'. After about 20 seconds the add-on will be connected to your own WiFi network and accessible again though http://nrg-itho-A1B2.local.
