2. Terminology

Below is a glossary of terms frequently used in the DSEP ecosystem. These terms have been chosen specifically around four specific activities that are performed during discovery namely

  1. Searching
  2. Sorting
  3. Filtering
  4. Descriptive

2.1 Glossary of terms used in the Jobs sector

Category Term Description
Searching Terms
Keyword Search Using specific words or phrases to find job listings that contain those terms.
Job Title The name of the position being offered.
Industry The sector of the economy to which a job belongs (e.g., healthcare, technology, retail).
Location The geographical area where the job is located.
Experience Level The amount of work experience required or preferred (e.g., entry-level, mid-level, senior-level).
Sorting Terms
Date Posted Sorting jobs based on when they were published.
Relevance Sorting jobs based on how closely they match search criteria.
Salary Estimate Sorting jobs based on the estimated salary range.
Company Rating Sorting jobs based on employer reviews and ratings.
Filtering Terms
Full-Time/Part-Time Filters jobs based on the number of working hours.
Remote Filters jobs that allow you to work from a location other than the office.
Contract Filters jobs that are for a specific duration and not permanent.
Internship Filters internship opportunities.
Temporary Filters jobs that are not permanent and usually for a specific duration.
Freelance Filters jobs that are project-based and not tied to a single employer.
Direct Employer/Recruitment Agency Filters jobs based on whether they are posted directly by the employer or through a recruitment agency.
Benefits Filters jobs that offer specific benefits like health insurance, retirement plans, etc.
Descriptive Terms
Job Description A detailed outline of the roles, responsibilities, and qualifications for a job.
Qualifications The education, skills, and experience required for a job.
Skills Required Specific abilities needed to perform the job.
Responsibilities Tasks and duties that the job entails.
Salary Range The range of pay offered for the job.
Company Culture Information about the work environment and values of the company.
Career Advancement Opportunities for growth and promotion within the company.
Work-Life Balance Information about the job's impact on personal time and lifestyle.
Application Deadline The last date by which you can apply for the job.
Job Type The nature of the job in terms of duration and commitment (e.g., permanent, contract, temporary).
Reporting Structure Information about who the employee will report to and who reports to them, if applicable.
Shift The working hours for the job (e.g., first shift, second shift, night shift).
