Browser extension no longer puts web site domain in AnonAddy description when creating username #12696
Comments
Thank you for reporting this issue! We've added this to our internal tracking system. |
Hello @jikamens, Thank you for reporting this. Are you generating that username from the Generator pane in the extension, or from within the Vault pane whilst creating or modifying a vault item? Thank you in advance, |
I already answered this question. As I said in the steps to reproduce, "Generate a username while creating a new login entry for the page you are currently on" (emphasis added). As far as I am able to tell this problem occurs whether I am adding a new vault entry or editing an existing vault entry. In either case, as far as I can tell, the domain of the site is no longer put into the description of the AnonAddy alias created by Bitwarden. |
Can confirm this is also the case for the SimpleLogin integration for username/alias generation. |
Hello, Thank you both. Yes, this appears to be related to the updated extension UI (User Interface), and is already being looked into by Engineering; I will keep this GitHub report open for external tracking. Please feel free to post additional information, such as screenshots or a screen video recordings, if you wish. Thank you again, |
Steps To Reproduce
Expected Result
Prior to the recent browser extension revamp it would include the domain name in the description automatically. Now I have to go manually edit it to add it by hand, which kind of defeats the purpose of the browser integration, eh?
This is a really annoying regression in functionality.
Actual Result
When the current browser extension generates an AnonAddy email address as a username, it now just puts, "Generated by Bitwarden," or something like that, in the description of the address on the AnonAddy site.
