Licence #4
Comments
Hi, @mchodzikiewicz When it is not explicitly published in a public repository you can expect that it is in Public Domain. https://wiki.creativecommons.org/wiki/public_domain Cheers. |
Uhm, no that's not how that works... In cases where a license is not attributed the default copyright laws apply, aka the original author retains all rights to the source and nobody may reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from it |
Obviously that's not the intent here is, but it is how the copyright works |
To answer the original question the license is Creative Commons CC-BY-SA 4.0, and the schematics are available by request from the 1bitsquared Discord server. |
Hmm, I was pretty suspicous about that claim 😄 |
I will be adding the schematics that are already published on the website https://black-magic.org/hardware.html to this repository. The schematics are available under CC-BY-SA license. Some older hardware is licensed similarly, but the files are only available by request if you talk to me personally. For some context why I am not just publishing the design files. This project is only being properly maintained thanks to the hardware sales. All the flurry of activity in the firmware repository is because I am taking the funds from BMP sales and pay people to work on the project. There are too many lazy "businesspeopele" that comb the internet for well documented open source hardware to produce and flood various websites with for small profit. They do not contribute to the continuing development maintenance and support of the project. This did happen with my other projects so I will not be openly publishing the files. That said anyone who buys Black Magic Probe from us is welcome to ask for the documentation they need for their use, which obviously includes the schematics. If you would like to design derivative hardware also, please talk to us. You can send me an email to info at 1bitsquared.com or DM me on discord. There are some rules to it but we do help out where we can. If you can't afford the hardware from us there is plenty of low cost hardware we officially support. ST-Link bluepill, blackpill and so on. I hope this explains it. Let me know if you have additional questions. |
