Hello!

I'm inquiring if this crate is abandoned or simply on hiatus. There seem to be a number of issues and a handful of pull requests that have had no activity in some time, and the last commit was more than half a year ago.

I was hoping to find something similar to the file command that I could use programmatically in pure Rust, and this crate seems like a good candidate otherwise.

Thanks!

Hey!

@bojand gave me permissions to this repository I used to help maintain a few years ago 1. I haven't been active for some time but I can dedicate some effort in helping bring it back. Feel free to leave links to the most important topics you see not being addressed.

Also if anyone else is also interested in contributing feel free to leave a comment.

That's good to hear!

Right now it seems like the crate is in an alright place, though I don't know enough about the structure to know if the pull requests that have been waiting are easy to merge.

My main concern was to do with the interface to get, but I will post that in a separate issue since it doesn't really belong here.

Hello, thanks for inquiring about this crate.
Not strictly abandoned by any intent.
I would love to regularly maintain and improve this crate, and I have some for some further evolution of it..
The reality is that currently my professional and personal commitments make it prohibitively difficult to do so. I just do not have the time required to put in much effort into it. I may have quick change here and there sporadically as time allows.
That being said I do welcome PRs and would get to review, merging, and publishing with some relatively quick turn around time (not same day, but probably same week-ish).
So that is the current state of things... Hopefully I'll have more time in the future to dedicate to it.
