Name of chapter inquiring about

Cloud Native Amsterdam

@AudMonte01 , please remove @mbianchidev and @wrkode from the cloud native Amsterdam group and add @gerr1t to the organizers of Cloud Native Amsterdam. We would like to thank Matteo and William for their help in organizing events in 2023, however, their involvement in 2024 was minimal. Gerrit stepped up and is helping organizing more events in 2025. Gerrit works at TrueFullstaq, a CNCF member, and myself work at Microsoft as of 2025. We're putting out a Call for Volunteers for adding more volunteers on slack.

P.S. I see them receiving the badge for 2024 and posting it on social media, which it may have been issued by mistake.

Tell us why you want to be added or removed from the chapter

Hi Alessandro,
You might have forgotten that the Dutch Cloud Native Day 2024 was a meetup, as well as the Tag Env Sustainability Week to which I indeed contributed, just as a reminder.
I would say that my involvement was other than minimal but let's see what @AudMonte01 has to say on the topic.

Laughing at my achievement shared on LinkedIn was not very nice of you - 8th grader behavior, as you dared to say to me yesterday during our foundation call.
On top of this, you didn't publicly apologize to me - and William - for the false accusations you made on Slack, as you promised you would do just yesterday during the same call.

Alessandro, your behavior is not ok.
Trying to bully people out of communities because of your big ego is not ok.
Calling other organizers "backstabbers" is not ok.
Hating on another ambassador for using Twitter Spaces is not ok.
Lecturing people on community when you behave like this is definitely not ok.

I don't know what happened lately but this has to stop.
You overstepped on SO many lines.

p.s. +1 for Gerrit!
I'll be speaking at a Fullstaq organized meetup soon :)

EDIT: Official approval for Gerrit will come after dealing with the issue that Alessandro created.

I will refrain from commenting on personal issues you have with me. The facts are:

  • zero meetups in 2024 hosted by you
  • Cloud Native Day was not a meetup, wasn't discussed in the channel dedicated to organize meetups (you're in it), it was a different initiative made by a different group of people, it was simply reposted on the CNG page
  • Several email threads in the last few months included you and William, to which you never replied or helped.

Hence, in my humble view, the 2024 badge was issued in error. If you're willing to organize meetups in 2025, you're of course more that welcome; you have access to the email we always use, you're in #netherlands-meetup-organisers, you have access to the planning document, and so forth. Please coordinate with the others (me and Gerrit) when and where you plan to organize a meetup, or help with the upcoming in February and March (speaking does not count, otherwise we would have to make every speaker an organizer, right?)

@AudMonte01,

Please discard the request to remove Matteo and myself from @ams0 .
@mbianchidev and myself have organized multiple events in 2024 and intend to continue in 2025.
The latest being the Dutch Cloud Native Day 2024.
As a reminder. The Cloud Native Amsterdam chapter is not there only to organize meetups.

Great news @wrkode! Perhaps you forgot to express your intentions on the slack channel here: https://cloud-native.slack.com/archives/C048PKV6MDM which might happen. What's the plan then? Can you add your plans to the planning doc then? https://docs.google.com/document/d/1VxnUm0DTzx4nDaI43ZeKcG2yX0cWVb6dPYKw_Ko2OWs/edit?tab=t.0

For now, I think you should both be removed and re-added once you organize an event, I'd be happy to facilitate that process.

P.S. Dutch Cloud Native Day had several organizers, none of them are listed as organizers of the CNG.

To be fair, @wrknode did hosted one meetup in September, as I was away and he graciously stepped in to be the host at TomTom. I would say that hosting one meetup however doesn't qualify as continued effort and involvement, specially due to the radio silence of the last few months.

Thanks for the fair note @ams0.

Actually I have organized a meetup on June 27th, I've supported the organization of the KuberTENes meetup by bringing in a second sponsor as well. I remember @mbianchidev working also on the organization of the last meetup as well.
this year, like last year, I've also helped organizing the Kubetrain to London.

You've done a good job organizing 4 real meetups, while the others were place holders for other companies.
And also organizing non-opensource meetups.

I'll take this conversation into different channels. thank you.

I will refrain from commenting on personal issues you have with me.

Good, cause there is none.
Personally and morally we couldn't be more distant and I would really like to keep it this way!

  • zero meetups in 2024 hosted by you
  • Kubertenes meetup at Datadog
  • Dutch Kubernetes Meetup at SUSE
  • Tag Env Sustainability Week
  • Dutch Cloud Native Day 2024
  • Kubetrain Amsterdam 2024 + Party in Paris (also helped out with the 2025 one) yes, it's not a meetup but still a community initiative

If by hosted you mean MCed, you are right, I did not, and yes for some of these I wasn't even there in person as I had to travel for work but I did help out, mainly with handling sponsorships.

  • Cloud Native Day was not a meetup, wasn't discussed in the channel dedicated to organize meetups (you're in it), it was a different initiative made by a different group of people, it was simply reposted on the CNG page

Wrong, not only DCND 2024 was effectively a meetup, it was the one of the only ones using Bevy for registration instead of Meetup.com
Finances were also handled in a great way, creating a buffer to put forward for the next bigger event: KCD Utrecht 2025.

  • Several email threads in the last few months included you and William, to which you never replied or helped.

Including people in an email after taking every single decision yourself, from the (mainly sponsor-provided) speakers to the sponsors, to the venue is not necessarily inviting people to contribute.
Especially when picking companies that admittedly were not talking about open source but instead pitched their product (and yet they were still chosen again, even if you knew the drill), so much for vendor neutrality.

Hence, in my humble view, the 2024 badge was issued in error.

Let's see what the CNCF has to say about this, I'm ok having it revoked if that's their decision.
Badges are images and I don't do what I do in open source to obtain a badge, although some people do (and that's also ok).

Treating people with respect is way more important.
I would like to be treated with the same respect as we are all volunteering our time for the community.

P.S. Dutch Cloud Native Day had several organizers, none of them are listed as organizers of the CNG.

People who organized the Dutch Cloud Native Day were about to be added to the CNCG as per my request but you made me close the issue because, for your sole decision, you deemed them not to be worthy enough for getting added there.
Yes, you did so much for including people in the community.

Hello @ams0 -

The logistics around how these GitHub issues work when putting in a request for someone to be removed, is that one of the following needs to happen:

  • That organizer needs to confirm their resignation by commenting here
  • The majority of organizers can vote an organizer out

Given the three of you are the only organizers in this chapter: https://community.cncf.io/cloud-native-amsterdam/ I don't foresee any of the above happening.

However, we can address the request of adding Gerrit as an organizer. If either @mbianchidev or @wrkode agree to add Garrit based on his past assistance and consistency with the group, then that is all we need, in addition to Gerrit commenting here pointing to his open and inclusive course badge of completion.

P.S. Matteo has participated in more than just Cloud Native Amsterdam as an organizer, which is why the badge was issued him.

Hi @gerr1t we are working to solve the issue that Alessandro created and we plan to do that before approving your addition to the chapter.

Thank you for your understanding and patience!
