I think we were mostly talking about mammalian brains in our last zoom call; that's also were most experimental research seems to be. I'm wondering about sound localization and organization of the auditory system in invertebrates too.. |

I think it would be great to leave this open. Some people might prefer to look into one species, some another. There seems to be a big difference between birds and mammals despite similar basic mechanisms of hearing. Other animals like insects have much more specialised systems that we are probably not interested in modelling. For example one thing we might do is show that depending on head size you have different optimal strategies (see previous work by McAlpine on this), or depending on other factors (e.g. barn owl hunts at night). |
