Converting the estimation structure from ADMB to TMB would have several advantages:

Much simpler I/O workflow
Easier estimation of random effects

For example in an estimation model unified across years, with a hierarchical treatment of selectivity, annual deviations in ocean age-specific selectivity could be treated as random effects

Easier and more efficient Bayesian sampling with adnuts package No U-Turn sampler.
