Those that saw the value of doing a search right-off-the-bat for them also wanted to be able to SAVE their searches and they wanted to be be alerted when something new came in and matched their saved searches.
There are four kinds of notifications/alerts. All (or most) are optional and can be toggled on/off.
In app alerts AKA toasts,
In app tour notifications,
Web push notifications,
and emailing/texting AKA outside app or remote notifications/alerts.
All Notifications/alerts should have a direct web accessible click or copy/paste link to the alert section or new functionality.
I want to also build a tour feature as a way to introduce new users to the app and at different times and places throughout the app as users progresses through the app, alert users and or introduce them to new functionality.
The intro and or tour set up a way to not only introduce new users to the app but new functionality as we added features in the future. They also helped reduce the number of help tickets and or calls for using the app and it eliminated the need for users to have to go to classroom training to understand how to use the app.
