Wireless gone #1
Comments
Same here. On a H2O edition 2 |
This branch [1] works, my guess is that either of these overrides breaks wifi:

Thanks, this fixed the issue for me. |
I see that this quite old, but I am having the same issue. I installed this on a Kobo Aura One and am now unable to see any wireless networks at all. I followed the link to S-trace's fork and installed that but still have the issue. I suppose I could write a user script to remove (or replace) the files in question, but that would work only if they do not have original versions that were modified by dropmeaword. I was able to download the current firmware at: https://geek1011.github.io/KoboStuff/kobofirmware.html. The original rcS file has updated code in it. Any idea where to go from here? Can (required?) I uninstall dropmeaword's version and then install S-traces fork? |
I tried this, but still no wireless sources detected: I replaced the dropmeaword rcS file with the current firmware version of that file and removed all contents from the hosts file. Then I repacked the KoboRoot dir and copied it to .kobo on the reader. After a reboot the problem persisted. Then I reinstalled from the S-trace link above, just in case there were other changes made (besides removing these two files). After a reboot, the problem persists. I see that the firmware version of the rcS file is heavily modified and that the top line seems to be missing a semicolon at the end (compared with the dropmeaword version). Many of the edits in the firmware version have to do with wireless operations, so I can't help but wonder if it should not be replaced. Yet, keeping it doesn't fix my issue. |
One last try at this. I reinstalled the current firmware update file and after reboot I had my wifi back to normal. Howerver, neither ssh or telnet were possible. I then reinstalled the S-trace KoboRoot.tgz file and afterward the wifi was nonfunctional again. Certainly not working on my Aura One. Any help would be appreciated. |
After the hack wireless gone. It doesn't find any network.
