I propose to introduce a family of line force elements such as Modelica.Mechanics.MultiBody.Forces.Spring in 3D.

I think this is essentially the same topic as discussed in #56.
So I suggest we can close this issue.

Well, I think I understand what is the point now. What you probably mean is to distinguish between so called 'point-to-point' forces and 'componet forces'. The latter is characterised by elements determined separately in every single direction.
In PlanarMechanics the PlanarMechanics.Parts.Damper belongs to PtP whereas the Spring or SpringDamper are from the other group.
Well, you are right there should be defined more elements of those groups. At the beginning we could at least start to clearly distinguish between them, e.g. by

  • renaming Damper to DamperPtP or
  • to group them in separate sub-packages PointToPoint and Component?

Any preference or other suggestions?
