Kibana version: 8.7 BC4 Kibana Prod environment

Browser version: Windows OS, chrome Version 110.0.5481.178

Describe the bug: Currently, when we perform any action say assigning new policy on Agent, and agent status gets updated to "updating state". However, when we the agent Activity Flyout no "In-progress" section is displayed. Rather Action is shown up as "Completed".

Reference Ticket:
#140510

Affected Testcase:
https://elastic.testrail.io/index.php?/tests/view/2028447

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Navigate to Agents tab.
  2. Select any agent andassign a new policy.
  3. Notice, agent status updated as "updating".
  4. Go to agent Activity flyout, observe,no in-progress section is diplayed, rather action is displayed as completed.

Expected behavior:
[Fleet] ‘In progress’ section should be shown at the top Agent Activity Flyout, when user assigns a new policy.

This doesn't look like a bug, I think the action just happens so quickly that it shows up as Completed. The action is in Completed state as soon as the action result is found in ES (meaning that the action was acked by the agent).

Hi @juliaElastic

Thank you for the feedback on expected behavior.

As per this info, we will hardly be able to track this behavior, so going to deprecate the testcase related to this in our regression plan.

Thanks

Hi @juliaElastic

We are able to track the In-progress section on agent activity Flyout for the below edge scenario. Hence, updating our testcase, so that feature behavior can be tracked and not missed while performing testing.

  • When a agent is installed and service is stopped from backend , then Agent moves to offline state, Here, when we attempt to unenroll the same, Agent gets stuck in updating state , and In-progress section is captured on agent activity Flyout.
