Sending file to user

I'm trying to send a file to the user, is it possible? if yes, how? I tried to search but couldnt find...
The vars are like this:
file = "output/#{host}.xml"

Ok then. Another thing: the reply.text var, its just reply.text or there is reply.image... i was just thinking a good way to send photos :p
