Window quadruples in size when I try to drag the resize corner?

Running the following "hello world" egui app. When I try to grab the resize handle of the window, the window's size jumpes to quadruple its size without me dragging.

Debian 12, Gnome, Wayland, 4k screen @ 100% scaling

Interestingly, if I change the monitor to 200% scaling, then it behaves normally.

What can be causing this behavior? Is egui expecting 4k screens to be at 200% scaling?
