Within the last couple days I've tried and eventually successfully managed to get my OG Xbox S Controller working on Windows 11, but not in the way one would expect from Microsoft.
I tried going through the install process as listed in the README, no dice, my controller was showing up in Device Manager yet not actually working. I then tried reinstalling the WinUSB driver using Zadig, still nothing. I tried installing the controller driver manually via the terminal by copying the install command directly into the terminal. Still nothing. Of course I had the right adapter because I knew my controller worked previously and I knew for a fact Windows was detecting the controller so I knew something else was awry.
What finally worked was uninstalling the device outright from Device Manager, when Windows detected it again, that forced the controller to work with Xb2Xinput and also on Steam. I kid you not. Basically I'm saying I'm not sure the driver installation is even required in more recent builds of Windows 11, which would make sense given how Microsoft has been making more of a move to support more kinds of controller devices than they previously did out of the box, especially over on Xbox systems.
Just wanted to point this out. No idea if anything needs to change in the README at all, but I did want to at least report this since I know some people are having troubles installing OG Xbox controllers on Windows 11.

I also want to add that while I've tried to install XBCD multiple times, each time the installer ended in failure, so I don't believe that to be the solution to this case.
