Questions:

  • What is Glarus?
  • What are the aims and objectives of this project? /r/emudev seems to be doing fine without drama?
  • Will there be a blacklist on this too?

Questions:

* What is Glarus?

A Kanton in Switzerland. I'm involved in several other projects in the region, like https://goo.gl/maps/kRZBBP7kkM6eNcZ38, and I plan to be relocating there soon-ish. The backbone is an ISP+datacenter a friend runs (nico from https://ungleich.ch). Huge linux, bsd and IPv6 lovers :)

* What are the aims and objectives of this project? /r/emudev seems to be doing fine without drama?

/r/emulation isn't though. /r/emudev isn't directly related - this is a much older project I've been working on since early 00s, as emudev.com. I just haven't had time before now, Greek crisis and all.

I've put together the purpose and such in https://emudev.org, doesn't that cover that? Feel free to ask any clarifying questions here :)

* Will there be a blacklist on this too?

Yes it does, I should've offered it more than a glance.

Oh and also, no, I hope we don't need a black list.

I'd like the bylaws to be in English, officially or unofficially, since while I'd love to sign up, the suggested statute is in legal German and I'd prefer not to sign away my first born child :P

I'll work on having an official translation by our lawyers. The binding text will still be in german though. Is that good enough?

Sure.

  1. I can't quite tell due to google translate, but how is the board appointed? It it an election, or does the board self-select from the pool of members?
  2. There should be a statue enforcing that general/emergency meetings are open to remote attendance (or even allowing for meetings to be held entirely in a chatroom) .
  3. I don't know how "Written notification" is defined, but can we make sure it allows emails?
  4. It might be smart to define a minimum notification period for meetings.
  5. Once again could be a translation issue, but Article 7 feels like it's missing some limits on the compensation for work and expenses. It seems to be a little open to potential abuse. Even just "reasonable" or "agreed" work and expenses would be enough.

Afair for 1) it's an election - at least that what we did last time in SGMK.

  1. YES. Remote by default, preferably with video though, I think?

  2. IMO Snail mail is usually best for extremely important decisions, as it forces things to move slower and reduces drama/stress. I think email and evoting are just fine, overall.

  3. Yes

  4. "resonable" and "agreed" are generally implied by swiss culture I guess. Adding them seems wise.

I'll work on getting the english translation done

Forked their repo, rebranded, added google translation: https://github.com/emudev-org/statuten/blob/master/STATUTEN.md. Maybe a PR is best to discuss specifics through the review process?
