Having a drawer in a nested tab

How can I have a drawer in a nested tab? I have tried adding a group under the home tab folder for the drawer.
The issue is if I keep the stack on the home tab layout file the drawer icon never shows and if I remove the stack and show use the drawer anything I navigate to under the drawer or in the tab isn't nested under it replaces the home view.
